The Walker Lecture Series continues

Concord's Walker Lecture Series will open the second part of its 112th season with a concert by classical pianist Frederick Moyer at the Concord City Auditorium, 2 Prince St., on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and no tickets are needed for the free performance.

Moyer, who lives in Lee, calls his program for the evening “Schumann: Two Piano Concerti.” The program will open, however, with Felix Mendelssohn's Fantasy in F sharp Minor, Op. 28 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth. The two main pieces on the program are Robert Schumann's Sonata No. 3 and his piano concerto. The sonata is nicknamed “Concerto Without Orchestra” because of the grandeur and complexity of the piece.

With more than 25 years as a full-time concert pianist, Moyer has established a vital musical career that has taken him to 43 countries and to such far-flung venues as Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Sydney Opera House, Windsor Castle, Carnegie Recital Hall, Tanglewood and the Kennedy Center. He has appeared as a piano soloist with world renowned orchestras including the Cleveland, Philadelphia and Minnesota Orchestras, the St. Louis, Dallas, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Houston, Boston, Singapore, Netherlands Radio, Latvian, Iceland and London Symphony Orchestras, the Buffalo, Hong Kong and Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestras, the National Symphony Orchestra of Brazil and the major orchestras of Australia.

Moyer is well-known for his residencies of one day to three weeks that combine major performances, master classes, workshops, school performances and other activities to promote classical music within communities. For more information on Moyer, visit frederickmoyer.com.
