That was then

We received this old Concord Monitor staff photo from Sue Faretra. Here’s what she wrote:

“Thought I would share an old pic with you – these are your former coworkers, most of them are gone now. My dad, Mike Faretra, is second from the left in the front row. I think I also know a few others in the photo – the first two ladies in the second row are Hannah Hill and Marie Fortier. My Uncle Ralph Cutting is to my dad’s right and second from the right in the front row is Mr. Colgan. My dad’s boss, Harold Beliveau, is third from the right in the second row.”
“The photo is from the early 1960s. You can see the addition for the “new” offset press had not been added to the right. My dad worked in the pressroom, he went to school in Massachusetts to learn the offset press in the mid 1960s and took over as foreman of the pressroom shortly afterwards, when Mr. Beliveau retired. My dad worked for the monitor for 51 years and retired in 1981 (he died in 1986). Many former paperboys remembered how he used to throw the bundles of newspapers at them and knock them down!

Thanks for sharing your memories with us, Sue! Readers, if you can fill us in on the other people featured in this photo, e-mail news@theconcordinsider.com or write to us at The Concord Insider, P.O.
