There's a lot of fun stuff going on at the Concord Public Library's children's room.
This second-floor space is filled with books, computers, spaces to read and a lovely mural painted by Sheri Crisp. Children's Librarian Pam Stauffacher would also point out the selection of audio books, a huge picture book section and a new and growing multicultural section with foreign language books and language instruction.
This is one cool place for kids to hang out, and not just to check out books, though that's important, too. There are also plenty of activities, which we have detailed here. And, because you can never get enough of the children's room, we've got information on this summer's reading program.
We trust that you can handle the fun, readers, even in this large of a dose.
Things to do
Family storytime meets near the fireplace in the children’s room every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Each week, you will hear new stories, try some fingerplays, learn some songs, and have some fun! Registration is not required and all ages are invited.

Summer reading program
School may be out in June, but that doesn’t mean a vacation from reading! Starting June 22, kids (through eighth grade) can register for the library’s summer reading program. This year’s them is, “Summertime and the reading is easy.”
During the six-week program, kids log the hours they spend reading. When they reach certain milestones, they can earn prizes.
Even pre-readers can join in – hours spent being read to can be counted in the log.
There will also be plenty of fun reading-related activities during the program. Stay tuned for details!
