Corrections

We have Alex Cohn, photo editor for the Monitor, to thank for this correction from last week's Insider's Guide to New Hampshire fall edition. In the article about parks open year round, we gave some historical background on the Hannah Duston memorial. The item read (cue flashback mist and music):

“On a small island, the statue commemorates the escape of Hannah Duston, who was captured during an Indian raid in 1697 in Haverhill, Mass., during the French and Indian War.”

Well, here's the thing . . . the French and Indian War didn't start until 1754, (editor smacks head) so obviously Hannah's capture had nothing to do with the war. It was just your run-of-the-mill random raid. Thanks for making us look bad, state park website!

Okay, we'll take some blame for not fact checking. But you should feel bad for us, because now our relationship with the state of New Hampshire has been tarnished. Will things ever be the same again? Only time will tell.

Another correction to take note of is the contact information for the Granite State Symphony Orchestra, who will be performing a Holiday Pops concert at the Concord Auditorium on 13. This year's brochures had the wrong contact information. The correct number is 226-4776.
