The Youth Board of the Granite Chapter of the American Red Cross participates in a multitude of community service projects throughout the year. Last month was especially busy because November was National Youth Involvement Month.

The Youth Board is a group of high school students from area schools. Currently there are 12 members from five high schools. Their purpose is to design and participate in community activities that promote the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross, while also learning leadership skills and having a good time.

In November, Youth Board members distributed blood drive flyers, volunteered at a local blood drive, handed out information on flu prevention and participated in a heroes fundraiser at area schools. Members walked in the Concord Christmas parade with the Red Cross. The group sorted holiday cards that will go to deployed members of the Armed Forces and several attended a session on writing and reviewing resumes hosted by University of New Hampshire-Manchester.

The Youth Board continues to volunteer at blood drives and distribute Red Cross health and safety information. Also members are working on a Red Cross education program.

New teens are welcome to join. For more information about the Youth Board, call 800-464-6692.
