The Walpole Historical Society Academy Museum, housed in an old school building, has tons of fascinating memorabilia. It opens for the season on June 2, but you can call 756-3876 to set up a visit.
The Frederick H. Hooper Institute teaches local children the wonders of agriculture, forestry, botany and other outdoor endeavours. Check out the Institute’s Farm and Forest Museum or walk the expansive trails on the property. For more information. call 756-4382 or visit its website at hooperinstitute.org.
There are tons of little sugar houses in town, many of which may be boiling when you visit. We saw plenty of buckets up at Great Brook Farm when we stopped by – give them a call at 756-4358 to see when they are making maple syrup and you can see the process in action.
Each spring, we muster up the guts to venture outside our fair city and find another cool New Hampshire town to spend the day in. This year, we headed to Walpole. It was a sweet and cheesy (in a good way) time!
