Knowing that the transition between middle and high school is a significant milestone in a young person’s life, John Stark Regional High School is offering a program specifically designed for incoming freshmen. We are John Stark! is a two-week program designed to provide an introduction to the school, continued practice and development of executive functioning, collaborative and other academic skills, as well as key social/emotional competencies. It is ideal for any incoming ninth-grade student looking to sharpen skills, engage in collaborative learning experiences, become familiar with our work-study practices and school norms, and have fun. Students who have struggled in eighth grade are especially encouraged to participate in the program in order to best prepare for a successful transition to high school. Upon successful completion of this program, students will earn 10 service learning hours.
