Books as Art: “Building Books 2” exhibit and zine workshop at Twiggs Gallery

“Building Books 2” is a traveling exhibition of unique artist books organized by members of the New England Book Artists (NEBA) at Twiggs Gallery (254 King Street in Boscawen).

Open to the public, the exhibit opens with a free zine-making workshop from 12 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 followed by an artists’ reception from 1 to 3 p.m. The exhibit runs through July 14.

Artists’ books are works of art that utilize the form of the book and are often produced as one-of-a-kind objects or in small editions. “Building Books 2” presents a range of interpretations on the themes of structure, architecture, public & private spaces, reality & fantasy, libraries, engineering, drafting, bookbinding, the handmade, the maker, connections, conceptualizations, personal narratives, home and so much more.

“We are big fans of the book arts at Twiggs Gallery and are really excited to work with NEBA to travel this exhibit to New Hampshire,” commented gallery director Laura Morrison. “Artists’ Books are so engaging and the sculptural books in this exhibit just beg for interaction. We offer a variety of book making workshops and I love being able to bring this show to New Hampshire so our students can be inspired by this work.”
