With its grand 19th century Victorian façade and chic, sophisticated interiors, the beautifully renovated Centennial Hotel bridges past and present like few other hotels in Concord, New Hampshire.
What stands today as an intimate and charming luxury boutique hotel first opened in 1876 as the Centennial Home — a group home founded by Concord locals to give less-fortunate elderly people a safe, comfortable place to live. At the time, it was one of the very first of its kind in New Hampshire.
The number of people living at the home grew so rapidly that the original building had to be replaced in 1892 by a larger brick structure that housed 48 women. The house continued to serve the Concord community until 1994, when it closed due to regulatory changes and rising health care costs.
Today, guests can experience the building’s fascinating history for themselves. Reserve one of the “turret” guestrooms on the third floor and enjoy a separate sitting area and outdoor porch overlooking the tree-lined street in front of the hotel.
