The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce’s Concord Young Professionals Network (CYPN) introduces you to our “Young Professional of the Month,” Robert Dunn. Each month the CYPN Steering Committee recommends a young professional in the community it thinks Concord Insider readers would enjoy getting to know better.

How old are you? 35

Where do you live? Tilton

Where do you currently work? For the past 2 ½ years, I have been part of the N.H. Department of Safety, Division of Emergency Services and Communications. I help create and maintain the maps that are used in the 911 call centers and used by cities and towns in the state. I also drive around the state gathering new GPS coordinates for new construction.

What’s your favorite part of your work day? I love being on the road, because it allows me to see all different corners of the state and find all sorts of beautiful places and vistas. I have literally been in Pittsburg on one day and Nashua the next day.

Where did you go to school? I took night classes at McIntosh College for my associates degree and then went to Granite State College for my bachelor’s degree.

What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy playing tabletop strategy games like Settlers of Catan or Pandemic, and war games like Bolt Action or Warhammer. There are a few local groups that I game with.

Favorite places to be? I just like being with friends and hanging out. The people I am with make the place worth going to.

Last book you’ve read? I have been reading through books that have been sitting on my unread shelf. I just finished Measure of a Hero by Blaine Lee Pardoe. I generally read books on history or science fiction.

How did you find out about CYPN and how has it benefited your business or you personally? I started attending CYPN events about eight years ago but took a few years off when my work hours interfered with attending. CYPN has allowed me to meet people from different walks of life and become friends and acquaintances with many of them. I’ve also been introduced to numerous businesses where I became a repeat customer along with others that I have recommended them to. My connection to Concord has been strengthened because of CYPN.

What organizations are you involved with? I am part of the Lakes Region Community Emergency Response Team. They are a group that is a second responder for local fire and police. We can handle traffic control and rehab for the first responders. We also set up and manage local shelters for those impacted by natural disasters.

Who is your greatest role model? My parents. For better or worse I am the man I am today because of how they raised me.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Concord? Beijing & Tokyo or Margaritas.

What’s your favorite place to go in Concord? I am a fan of Lithermans Limited.

Favorite movie of all time? I am a big Star Wars fan; however, my favorite movie might have to be Ronin.

What is one of your life goals? I want to travel more. There are so many experiences that I want to have in my life.

If you could visit any country, where would you go? I have done very little traveling outside the USA, but I would love to visit England. It would be great to visit a country that has that much history.

Where is the best place you’ve visited? Alaska. I went for a cruise and it happened to be during the salmon runs. It was amazing seeing fish thick in every river and stream.

Tell us a few interesting facts about yourself! I love to swim. I did it when I was younger and I am now too far from a lap pool to keep it up. In my senior year of high school, I participated in the track & field decathlon. I have been to over 200 towns and municipalities in the state. I am an Eagle Scout. I love going on beer tours around the state.
