Enroll in E-Z Pay and enter to win

All Concord water customers who are enrolled in the city’s automatic water billing payment plan, E-Z Pay, by 5 p.m. on Friday will be entered for a chance to win one of three available Shower Better Bundles! Concord General Services is hosting its E-Z Pay for WaterSense contest for the fourth year in celebration of October being EPA WaterSense’s Shower Better Month.

However, this year, instead of only being able to win a WaterSense labeled showerhead, three randomly selected E-Z Pay enrollees will win a Shower Better Bundle that includes a water-saving pail, a high-performance WaterSense labeled showerhead with ShowerStart technology to suspend water flow after the water warms up (save water, save energy, and potentially save money on utility bills), a four-minute shower timer, a duck shower cap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shower sponge and a towel.

Customers enrolled in E-Z Pay still receive a bill summary indicating the date the bank draft will occur, making it easy to track payments.

Enroll in E-Z Pay in person at the water billing office at 311 N. State St., or print the form online at concordnh.gov/utilitybilling and return it by mail or in person. If you are already enrolled in E-Z Pay, you are automatically entered in the contest for a chance to win.

Go to Wednesday’s Wisdom this week

Wednesday’s Wisdom Pot Luck will be held this week at 5:30 p.m. at the Mill Brook Gallery & Sculpture Garden.

This month’s topic: Why Do We Have Minds and What on Earth Are They Up To?

Nature starts with very simple things and somehow creates great complexity. Is that how our minds came about? The Prisoner’s Dilemma, animal behavior, “quorum sensing,” the appearance of cooperation in a predator/prey world: each holds clues to help us frame answers and have fun with new questions about ourselves, our relationships and our cultures. Even psychiatry might offer some clues if it could get its act together.

David Coursin is a psychiatrist, visual artist, poet and apprentice musician who has studied these questions in hopes of doing a better job in his work and in understanding himself.

Wednesday’s Wisdom is free and open to the public. It is a pot luck and bring-your-own (wine, beer or other drinks) event.

Open house at water facilities

The public is invited to participate in “Imagine A Day Without Water” by joining Concord General Services for an open house on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Water Treatment Facility (53 Hutchins St.) and/or Wastewater Treatment Facility (125 Hall St.).

Social media users are encouraged to share why they value water (be sure to include #ValueWater) on Concord General Services’ Facebook and Twitter pages @ConcordNHGS.

If we all remember the value of water and continue to invest in infrastructure, Concord won’t have to imagine a day without water.

Family workshop about kindness

A workshop for parents and children, Spreading Kindness In Our Community: Letting Kids Know They Can Make a Difference, will be held on Saturday at the Concord Family YMCA from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

How can we engage children of all ages in conversations about the world today and help them think about kindness and reaching out to one another? Would you like to show kids the way they can make a difference in their community every single day?

For parents: A brief workshop/discussion on raising children in today’s world that can seem scary even to adults.

For kids: Space for children’s voices to be heard, using discussion and activities (wear old clothing). For everyone: A hands-on activity to spread kindness in our community (wear old clothing).

This workshop will facilitated by Donna Raycraft and Kate Eads Galdieri.

There is no cost to attend and participate.

To register or for more information, email parentingtoday@comcast.net.
