Craft fair at GoodLife on Saturday
Come on over to GoodLife Programs & Activities’s first ever craft fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its 254 N. State St., Unit L location.
This is a fund-raising event featuring a great variety of local New Hampshire crafters, plus a bake sale and a raffle. All items are hand or homemade.
The entrance fee is $2 and fees benefit GoodLife; kids are free.

87th community concert season
The Concord Community Concert Association will open its 87th season with Richard Dowling’s tribute to Scott Joplin – ‘Great Scott!’ on Sept 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium.

Seasonal flu clinic at Pleasant View
Concord Regional VNA is holding a seasonal flu clinic on Sept. 28 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Retirement 227 Pleasant St. Specially-trained nurses administer seasonal flu shots to people age 3 and over and answer your flu-related questions.
The discounted cash or check charge is $30 per immunization. Clients who present an insurance card from Medicare B, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, or Anthem do not need to pay a fee.

Class on raising money-savvy kids
The N.H. Federal Credit Union Center for Finance & Education (47 N Main St.) is hosting a two-part class, Smart Moves for Money-Savvy Kids, beginning Sept. 28. The class will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m., with part two on Oct. 5.
Part one explores lessons and tools to impart the true value of money and responsible spending among the next generation – our kids. We will review the struggles parents must grapple with when providing for children, how to teach them to save, spend and borrow responsibly, etc. No matter how old your children are – it’s really never too soon! Attendees will also receive a free copy of the Dave Ramsey book, Smart Money. Smart Kids.
In part two, representatives from N.H. Higher Education Assistance Foundation will provide information and steps to prepare parents for the old college try. This presentation is suitable for parents and stud ents, and provides resources as well as tips to help families minimize out-of-pocket costs.

Life Reimagined at Audubon on Sept. 26

The two-hour check-up is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
At this free Life Reimagined Check-Up, you start where you are in life and – through a series of fun, simple exercises – see where the possibilities lead you. You gain insight into where you are in life and where you want to go; Discover new methods and practical tools to help you plan your next move; and connect with a Life Reimagined Guide and people in your community who can support you along the way.

Trout Unlimited chapter meeting Thursday
Join Basil Woods Trout Unlimited at its next chapter meeting on Thursday, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Forest Society, 54 Portsmouth St.
Learn about New Hampshire’s Trout Unlimited’s Kids’ Trout Camp from our new Camp Director Phil Donovan and our local teen attendees. Afterwards meet Rick Little and enjoy his presentation ‘Fly Fishing in Maine is Wicked Fun’. Little is a great presenter who has been fly fishing in Maine since the 1960’s. He will share some of his favorite Maine rivers and give us some tips on flies and techniques he has found successful.
Pizza and raffles begin at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m.

Healthy classes begin this week
The Center for Health Promotion is hosting a number of classes in the coming weeks.
Introduction to ChiRunning teaches a safe and efficient, natural running technique to reduce injury and improve personal performance.
The class will be held Tuesdays, Sept. 19 and 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $59.
Food on the Mind will be held Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.
Scientists state that what you eat can have an impact on whether you develop late-onset Alzheimer’s. The “Mind Diet” is the new intervention for neurodegenerative delay. Learn more about these brain foods, how often you should eat them and ways to fit them into your meal plan. Cost is $15.
Fast & Fit, a structured weight loss program uses meal/snack replacements at the onset to ease planning as you learn over the 10-week program how to make healthier food choices, will be held Thursdays, from Sept 28 to Dec. 7, from noon to 1 p.m. or 6 to 7 p.m. Cost is $199, but mention you saw the ad in the Insider and get 10 percent off.
