Summer is basically over, for all intents and purposes, but live music never stops around these parts. Thanks to so many eating and drinking establishments in Concord, there’s always somewhere to go to listen to some good live music.
Since we know everybody loves a good live band, we dug up a bunch of listings for the week ahead so you can plan your social life around these performances. With shows almost every night, you’ll want to break out that planner you still have from high school (or that you just bought for your kids) and fill it out with the following events:
Wednesday
If you’re an aspiring musician or poet, show off your skills at Open Jam and Slam at Area 23. Starting about 7 p.m., anybody who wants to can show up and jam or read some slam poetry. It’s that simple.
If you like to eat burritos and enchiladas while taking in some tunes, check out Rob Wolfe at Hermanos Cocina Mexicana starting at 6:30 p.m. The mid-week music at Hermanos tends to lean toward the jazzy side, and there’s no cover charge.
Thursday
Rippin’ E Brakes, a band that has become something of a staple around Concord, will play at the familiar underground digs of Penuche’s. The music typically gets going somewhere in the ballpark of 9 p.m., and there’s usually a cover charge of about $3.
Mike Gallant, aka Mikey G, is one of the busiest musicians in the area, and he will keep that going with a show on the patio at Cheers starting about 5 p.m.
At Makris Lobster & Steak House, listen to Alan Roux serenade the crowd while you enjoy a lobster roll or two. Roux will play from 6 to 9 p.m.
If you can’t get enough of that authentic Mexican food, head back to Hermanos to catch Mike Morris at 6:30 p.m.
Friday
Zooo Crew, another busy band, will be outside True Brew playing in Bicentennial Square starting at 7 p.m. The outdoor shows are free.
Saturday
The Cole Robbie Band will wrap up the weekend with a free show at Area 23, starting about 8:30 p.m.
