It goes without saying that the Insider is a really big deal. We’ve basically been running this city for the last 10-plus years through our free, weekly publication.
But until Market Days last week, we had never really had much over-the-air exposure. That ended when Rob Azevedo contacted me asking if I wanted to be interviewed on Granite State of Mind, the show he hosts, during Market Days. Of course I jumped at the opportunity.
The show was set up at a table in Bicentennial Square on Thursday, putting us right in the middle of all the action of Market Days on its opening day. The band People Skills was playing on the Homegrown Music Stage right behind me. It was quite the lively atmosphere.
Not knowing what would be talked about – and seeing local celebrity Pat Gochez of Pat and the Hats interviewed right before me – I was a little nervous. However, once Azevedo and co-hosts Dusty Gray and Brian O’Reilly started talking, all the nerves went away.
They asked all kinds of questions about the Insider – How do you guys do it? What’s the pressure of deadline like? How do figure out what you’re going to cover? What’s the process like? How do you like it?
To me, all this stuff was pretty basic – it’s just my job – but the guys seemed to be genuinely interested, and hopefully the listeners were, too.
If anyone wants us for TV, we’re available…
