If you’re into nature, plants, herbs and healing, you definitely won’t want to miss the New Hampshire Herbal Network’s eighth annual Herb & Garden Day at the Audubon McLane Center this Saturday.
Herbal educators and seasoned growers from all walks of life will come together to share their knowledge and build upon a tapestry of age-old wisdom about herbs and natural medicine, native plants, organic gardening, permaculture, traditional homesteading practices and the power of nature to heal.
The bulk of the day will be devoted to 12 workshops. Some of the workshop topics include:
Spring cleaning for the body.
Fall root harvest for medicine and food.
“Wholistic” approaches to seasonal depression.
Planting for the four seasons.
Creating a medicine wheel garden.
Apart from the workshops, there will also be three plant walks and one mushroom walk, in which participants will walk around and identify various plants and mushrooms.
If the workshops aren’t really your scene, there will be all kinds of shopping opportunities that will be open to anyone (just pay a $5 entrance fee and then browse and buy all you want). More than 25 local vendors will be on hand selling locally grown herbs and plants, New Hampshire-made products, handmade jewelry and accessories, herbal remedies, natural skincare products, essential oils and more.
And, perhaps most importantly, there will be food. The Crust and Crumb Baking Co. will be dishing out sweet treats other goodies all throughout the day.
If that’s still not enough, there will also be live music by Song of the Lark, activities for kids, a reiki tent and native American storytelling with Aunti Crow, a guide for sacred circles and ceremonies, owner of Sacred Pathways, and Spiritual Guide at Webster Place Recovery Center.
If you’re a curious seeker, intrepid plant lover, herbal entrepreneur, earth lover or natural health advocate, this event is definitely for you.
A registration fee of $35 is required if you want to attend the workshops, but you can also go just for the shopping – that just requires a $5 admission. To register, go to nhherbalnetwork.wordpress.com/herbday.
There are also still spaces for vendors and several sponsorship levels available, so go to the website or contact Jessica Livingston at 568-5740 or jessica@jlivinspirations.com for more information.
