Run with a splash of color on Sunday

That could be you, getting all colored up at the end of this year's color run.
That could be you, getting all colored up at the end of this year's color run.

Do you like running? How about bright colors?

Well then, we might just have the perfect event for you: Concord 21C’s My School Color Run.

This Sunday, Rollins Park will be a sea of colorful runners, as it serves as the start and finish for the untimed 5K fun run/walk.

Unfortunately, the early registration deadline has passed to receive an official event T-shirt and color packet, but we have an idea. Go out and buy a white T-shirt, or grab one out of your drawer, and wear it this Sunday. You could even use this as your exercise for the day or weekend.

The reason we urge you to wear white is for the simple fact that throughout the course, runners will travel into color splash zones where they’ll be doused in color, and it won’t show up too well in black.

And once the run/walk has come to an end, there will be a big final color toss celebration, so expect to be mighty vibrant for the rest of the day.

Check in begins at 9 a.m. at Rollins Park, and cost is $15 for student and $25 for everyone else.

The run, which will have no time checkpoints or big clock at the end that forces you to sprint the last 100 yards for a better time, starts at 10 a.m. Those choosing to walk will hit the course at 10:30 a.m.

If you want to get the registration part of it out of the way, simply send an email to sfarrelly@sau8.org.

The event is a fundraiser for Concord’s 21C After School Programs.
