No matter what sporting event you’re hosting a get-together for, food has to be a priority.
If said sporting event turns out to be a huge disappointment, your guests can always find solace in your spread.
So if you happen to be a fan of the Kentucky Derby, which is slated for Saturday, Local Baskit has the perfect option for your watch party dessert.
At 1 p.m., there will be a workshop at the store’s 10 Ferry St. location to make some Derby cupcakes.
It’s an hourlong class, so you’ll be home in plenty of time for race coverage – and the actual race.
For $18 a pair, which is meant for a parent or grandparent and a child or two, you get six cupcakes already frosted, plus all the fixings to make the ponies that will go on top.
Owner Beth Richards, who will be wearing her Derby hat, will teach you how to make these Pinterest-inspired cupcakes that sure are making us hungry.
The class is limited to eight pairs, but if there’s enough interest, a second class could be scheduled.

There will also be Derby appetizer and mint julep baskets available if you don’t feel like cooking.
