NHTI’s Campus Activities Board’s annual Spring Comedy Show is bringing Jimmy Dunn to campus on Friday with opener Kelly MacFarland.
Dunn is an actor and stand-up comedian from Boston, who recently co-starred on the CBS comedy The McCarthys as Sean McCarthy. He got his start in the comedy world telling jokes at a bar in Gloucester, Mass., where he was paid in beer and fried clams (not a bad gig, if you ask us).
Since then, Dunn has gone on to perform at some of the comedy industry’s most prestigious events, including Denis Leary’s Comics Come Home, Montreal’s International Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, and the Late Show with David Letterman.
As an experienced stand-up comedian, MacFarland has an extensive and well-rounded resume including comedy clubs, theaters, colleges, festivals, television appearances and entertaining U.S. troops overseas. She was first runner up in the 2009 Boston Comedy Festival, voted Best of the Fest at 2010 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, released her first album, Bombshell, in 2011, performed at the Oddball Festival 2015, performed on the Verizon Comedy Stage at the 2016 Boston Calling and has been a featured headliner for the Boston Women in Comedy Festival for multiple years.
The general admission event will take place at NHTI’s Dr. Goldie Crocker Wellness Center and Gymnasium on Friday. Parking opens at 5:30 p.m., doors open at 6:30 and the laughing begins at 7:30.
Tickets are $20 for the public, $10 for students and alumni. Get them online at nhti.edu/comedy-show.
There will be no recording devices, photography, outside food/drink, bags or weapons allowed.
