Unlike most holidays, we never really know when Easter is going to be celebrated from year to year. Some years it’s in March and others April.
So we decided to look it up, and learned that Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday following the full moon after the vernal equinox on March 21. In other words, Easter can be observed anywhere between March 22 and April 25.
Just an FYI, Easter will be on April 16 this year, but before the Easter Bunny comes hopping into town for a visit, Concord will be abuzz with the Easter Eggstravaganza.
The second annual event, put on by ConcordTV as a fundraiser for new equipment, will be held April 7-9 at the Bektash Shrine Center, and they need your help to make it bigger and better than the first one.
Right now, they are looking for people, businesses and organizations to sign up to make a basket, as well as donate items for the silent auction.
The goal is to reach 200 total baskets and the only way that is going to happen is if you decide to sign up.
The baskets must have at least a $50 value, and since this is a family-friendly event, use your best judgment as to what goes in it. Besides that, the theme of your basket can really be just about anything.
The deadline to drop off baskets is March 31 at Ballard’s at 7 Broadway, and baskets will be accepted right up until the deadline. It’s just always nice to let everyone know ahead of time, for the whole planning side of things.
Those who donate a basket will receive four free admission tickets to the event.
The event raised $7,000 last year and the hope is to at least double that total in year two.
