Bow Mills offering Lenten Luncheons
Bow Mills United Methodist Church, 505 South St., Bow, is hosting a Lenten Luncheon series sponsored by the Greater Concord Interfaith Council.
Luncheons are held on Thursdays, March 9, 16, 23, 30, and April 6, from noon to 1 p.m. with different speakers each series.
The March 9 talk features Peter Evers, CEO of Riverbend Community Mental Health Center and Co-Chair of Change Direction N.H.
Ticket are $7 per luncheon and available at the door. Proceeds will benefit Friends of Forgotten Children.

Learn to climb as a family at Evo
Concord Parks and Recreation is partnering with Evo Rock and Fitness for family climbing days.
This three-hour climbing session is a great way for your family to discover the vertical world. Parents learn to belay (manage the ropes) during a 1 -hour class. While parents are in class the children hang out and climb with the Evo instructors.
After class, parents will belay for their children. Families will receive vouchers after the session. Sign up for one or more of the four classes, which will be held March 5 and 19, and April 2 and 30. The classes run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fiddlers to play at Audi on Saturday
The husband and wife duo of Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy will bring their “Vision of Cape Breton and Beyond” tour to the Concord City Auditorium on Saturday as part of the Concord Community Concert Association’s 86th season.
With the “Visions of Cape Breton and Beyond” show, MacMaster and Leahy share the musical traditions of their hometowns of Lakefield, Ontario, and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, with an expanded show that highlights the unique talents, influences and stories.
The show, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is a family affair with their children joining them on stage.

Ashes to Go at Eagle Square
Ash Wednesday (this week) starts Lent, the period leading up to Easter. “Ashes to Go” are being offered by Grace Episcopal Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Ashes will be administered in Eagle Square, from noon to 1:30 p.m., by the Rev. Kate Atkinson, Rector, St. Paul’s Church, the Rev. Jason Wells, Rector, Grace Episcopal Church, and the Rev. Jon Hopkins, Pastor, Concordia Lutheran Church.
Ash Wednesday is marked by prayer and fasting in the Christian faith. To observe this holy day, ashes are placed on foreheads as a reminder of human mortality.

Bach’s Lunch talk at music school
From African-American spirituals to Broadway show tunes, explore how migration and immigration have shaped and inspired vocal music at March’s free Bach’s Lunch programs at the Concord Community Music School.
On Thursday, Peggy Senter, president and founder of the music school, will give a lecture titled “Musical Migrations: Schubert, Spirituals & Show Tunes.”
The following week, on March 9, music school faculty members Hannah Schramm Murray, soprano, and Calvin Herst, piano, will team up to present a concert titled “Taking Flight: American Songs of Migration.”
Bach’s Lunch programs are free and open to the public, and take place from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. on the first and second Thursdays of each month in the music school’s Recital Hall, 23 Wall St.

The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Peer Support Group meets the first, third and, when applicable, fifth Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 21 Centre St.

‘Learning Man’ at Hatbox Theatre
Fort Hanover Productions is proud to bring The Learning Man to Hatbox Theatre, beginning Friday through March 19.
After a 47-foot fall, Alan used his art as a tool set to rebuild his life. Now he is bringing his experiences alive in a gripping tale. The Learning Man is the story of Alan’s fall and amazing recovery.
A multimedia format helps Alan take you on his journey, with poetry and art punctuating sections of growth, and some catchy music finishing up the experience. Guest musicians, speakers and lobby art created by brain injury survivors all converge to bring the TBI community together.
Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $16.50, $13.50 for members, seniors and students.

Merrimack County Conservation District is holding its annual spring tree, shrub and bulb fundraiser.
This year we are offering a mixture of old favorites as well as exciting new varieties of trees, shrubs, fruit trees, small fruits, plant packages, composting items, bulbs, and New Hampshire grown plants.
Whether you are looking for a new variety for a sunny or shady spot in your yard, thinking about adding a new color to your current perennial grouping, or interested in providing a source of wildlife food and cover, the Merrimack County Conservation District has what you need for a wonderful summer landscape!
Orders will be taken through March 17. People will be able to pick up their orders at Carter Hill Orchard on May 5, from 4 to 7 p.m., and May 6, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Life after loss to meet in Bow
Concord Regional VNA is offering Life After Loss, an eight-week adult grief discussion group on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. beginning March 8 at Bow Mills United Methodist Church, 505 South St. in Bow.
Trained grief facilitators provide an opportunity for grief support and education to participants who have suffered a recent loss.
The group size is limited to 12 participants and sessions are free. Registration is required.
