If you’ve been on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what kinds of bookish events are coming up this/next week, you can now relax, because we’ve figured it all out for you.
On Thursday (Feb. 9), you’ll get the rare opportunity to interact with a National Book Award finalist when Andrew Krivak comes to Gibson’s Bookstore to talk about his second novel, The Signal Flame.
If you’re not familiar with Krivak’s work, shame on you – he was previously a National Book Award finalist for his debut novel, The Sojourn, and he’s clearly kept up that level of work with his second nomination.
The Signal Flame is a heartbreaking, captivating story about a family awaiting the return of their youngest son from the Vietnam War, and it’s already getting rave reviews.
Stop by Gibson’s at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday to meet the author and take home a copy of the book, if you’d like. The event is free to attend, and books will be available for $26 (hardcover).
For the poetry lovers out there, we wanted to give you a heads-up on the next Poetry Society of New Hampshire meeting, which will be next Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. at Gibson’s.
The bookstore hosts the poetry event on the third Wednesday of most months, and this month’s featured poets are Nancy Jean Hill and Tim Mayo.
The poets will read some of their works aloud, and an open mic will follow. The event is free and open to all – and newcomers are encouraged to check it out!
