As you’ve probably figured out, we like beer.
And over the last few months, we’ve been “working” hard to let you know about some of the tasty brews that have hit tap lines around Concord.
We’re always in search of something new and different. But while Lithermans Limited is not necessarily new anymore (they’ve been open since April), the brews that Lithermans has been putting out are definitely one of a kind.
You can find them on tap at places like True Brew and Area 23, and in bottles at the Concord Co-op. But if you want to try a bunch of their beers all at the same time, the brewery tasting room is where it’s at.
No longer do you have to make the tough decision of what to try – you can try them all.
While they can’t serve up full pints at the tasting room (that’s a separate license), you can get a 4 ounce taster of each beer they have on tap, which makes up this little thing that people in the beer industry likes to call a “flight.”
The tasting room is open Thursday and Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. It has been so popular that owners Steve Bradbury and Michael Hauptly-Pierce added Thursday to the open sign about six weeks ago.
So what better way to spend a Friday afternoon on the clock than sipping a few locally brewed beers. We couldn’t think of one, which is why we took the trip down to the 126 Hall St. location.
We had tried a few of Lithermans beers before and with seven on the menu for the day, we were quite excited to add a few more to the list.
You’ve got the option of trying a taster of each beer they have on tap, but since this was a business trip, we went for a flight of four, which equates to just a little over your typical pint, for only $6.
There’s was also the option to get a single taster for $2, six for $10 and all seven for $12.
It was not easy choosing, but we went for Self Titled, a 5.7 percent pale ale; Little Miss Strange, an 8.2 double IPA; Tangled Up In Brudges, a saison, 5.1; and Ground Control, a 4.7 percent coffee stout.
It was a nice variety with some very tasty results. And while there’s no right way to drink a flight, we decided to try a little sip of each one before settling on a rotation.
The Self Titled had a mellow hop flavor that got better with each sip.
Tangled was light and refreshing, and had a nice aftertaste.
Ground Control was the one that took us out of our comfort zone. Not usually a stout fan, we had to give it a shot after learning that it was a collaboration with True Brew, including about six gallons of their own cold brew. And as far as stouts go, this was one of the better ones we’ve tried.
And the Little Miss Strange wasn’t a melt-your-face-off hop creation, but had a ton of great flavor and could be dangerous with the 8.2 percent label.
All in all, it was a great trip. There’s delicious, cold beer on tap and a great atmosphere.
So if you’ve never been, go grab a flight. It’s definitely worth a try.
