It must be getting close to Halloween because this weekend the N.H. Audubon McLane Center property will transform into an enchanted forest.
Follow the glowing jack-o-lantern trail into the nighttime forest where you’ll encounter larger than life creatures and characters as they present skits about mysterious activities in nature. Gather around a campfire for engaging stories, enjoy indoor seasonal games, refreshments and activities for all ages.
This might be an event near All Hallows’ Eve, but it’s not of the scary variety. The enchanted forest is a family-friendly event for ages 4 to adult, and is held rain or shine. Scout and youth groups are also invited.
The enchanted forest will be held both Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 8 p.m., with tours leaving every 20 minutes. Registration is required for each time slot. Call 224-9909 to register for a specific day and time.
This annual event is quite popular, so sign up early to make sure you get one of the tours you want.
Cost is $6.50 for Audubon members, and $9.50 for nonmembers. Group rates are available for scout and youth groups: $140/time slot, 15 people minimum, call for details.
Volunteers are also needed to help make the event fun for all. If you would like to participate by acting in a skit, leading groups on a trail, sharing games and crafts, baking refreshments, assisting with planning or set up, please contact Ruth Smith at rsmith@nhaudubon.org.
