VNA holding flu clinic Thursday
Concord Regional VNA is holding a seasonal flu clinic on Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Retirement.
Specially-trained nurses will administer seasonal flu shots to people age 3 and over and answer your flu-related questions.
The discounted cash or check charge is $30 per immunization. Clients who present an insurance card from Medicare B, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Harvard Pilgrim, or Anthem do not need to pay a fee.
Seasonal flu clinics are dependent upon the availability of the flu vaccine.

Concert series opens Saturday
The Concord Community Concert Association kicks off its 86th year with The Lee Trio on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium.
Cost is $18 or season subscriptions can be purchased for $60. Tickets are available by calling 344-4747, at the door, the UPS store and Gibson’s Bookstore. Students are free.

Come experience the Concord Coachmen and Tomorrow’s A Cappella Today — a concert of young and adult voices, of musical styles from multiple decades.
The 57th annual Festival of Barbershop Harmony will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium.

Story time at Gibsion’s Saturday
On Saturday, at 10 a.m., Gibson’s Bookstore will host a special story time edition with children’s author Josh Funk, and his new book Dear Dragon.
Dear Dragon is a sweet and clever friendship story in rhyme, about looking past physical differences to appreciate the person (or dragon) underneath.

Piano concert at St. Paul’s Friday
On Friday, the Keiser Concert Series of St. Paul’s School will present pianist Tom McDermott.
The concert, which will be held in the Recital Hall in the Music Building of the Oates Performing Arts Center on the St. Paul’s campus, will begin at 7:30 p.m.

VNA offering aging program
Concord Regional VNA is offering a 10-week Aging Mastery Program, a nationwide program from the National Council on Aging. The program is designed to engage older adults in a fun and innovative way that empowers them to embrace their longevity and address their physical, financial and emotional wellness. The program is held on Wednesdays beginning Oct. 19 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Heights Community Center, 14 Canterbury Road.

Chapter Two thrift store open Sunday

Tell a tale at Hatbox Theatre
Hatbox Theatre and Tales Told Productions will host Tales Told – Authentic Voices Sharing True Tales of the Human Experience, on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m..

Craft a five-minute soliloquy of your firsthand experience centered around the evening’s theme – reunion. A tale should contain a conflict and a resolution.
Come to Tales Told at the Hatbox Theatre and put your name in the bag. If you are one of the lucky audience members picked, you will have five minutes to wow the crowd with your adventure, remembrance or lesson learned. If not, sit back and enjoy the tales.
Each tale teller’s score will be tabulated and a winner will be announced at the end of the evening.

Nature film series at Red River
Please join The Nature Conservancy in New Hampshire and Red River Theatres on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for The Messenger, the second film in the Conservancy’s Future of Nature Film Series.
Director Su Rynard’s documentary explores the deep-seated connection between people and birds and warns that the uncertain fate of songbirds might mirror our own.
The film will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Mark Zankel, state director for The Nature Conservancy in New Hampshire. Panelists include: Doug Bechtel, president, New Hampshire Audubon; David Patrick, director of conservation, The Nature Conservancy in New Hampshire; and Chris Rimmer, executive director, Vermont Center for Ecostudies.
