With it being the fall guide and all, we went in search of a fall beer.
But we also wanted to go somewhere new. We’ve hit up a lot of happy hours for tasty brews over the last few months, so it took some time to figure out a place we hadn’t been. And then it hit us – we had never gone to the Common Man.
So with the weekend about to begin, how could we not want to spend our last bit of time on the clock for the week enjoying an adult beverage? Don’t worry you don’t actually have to answer that, we know what it is.
There was a Sam Adams Oktoberfest so our fall beer quest was met, but then another tap caught our eye – the one for Common Man Ale. It was definitely on the list of beers we had never tried and how could we not drink the beer named for the establishment we were frequenting?
We were told it was brewed by Smuttynose for the Common Man, and anything created by Smuttynose is something we are willing to taste test.
We learned its an American Pale Ale and has an alcohol content of 5.9 percent. But how did it taste? Well, great actually. It was light and refreshing, and not too hoppy for those of you who aren’t a big fan of hops (which is hard for us to imagine but to each their own). And with it feeling like the middle of summer at the end of last week, there was nothing wrong with a nice, light brew to sip on. It had a good flavor, just not the crazy hops that we typically try to order (or at least one of us). And to make things even better than just enjoying a happy hour beer, there was a free cheese and cracker station. It had all kinds of crackers with a couple of spreads and a big block of cheddar. A very nice touch.
It was just under $5 for our pint and completely worth the money. Would have had another one if the clock wasn’t still ticking. Oh well, there will be more chances to have Common Man Ale – just off the clock.
