Tim Goodwin / Insider staffEvery year, the Granite United Way has a day where businesses, companies and organizations volunteer to help out around Merrimack County. It’s called Day of Caring and it just so happened to be last Wednesday. So we figured we'd scope out how volunteers were helping out around Concord and report back – using pictures to tell the story. Over the course of the day, about 500 volunteers assisted 25 agencies with 60 projects. Now that’s what you call people helping people. Above: Members of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and a lone representative from Upton & Hatfield helped sort food and fill boxes at The Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties. Top right: Lawson group employees Susan Dennis (left) and Heidi Herrick (right) paint a fence at the Merrimack Valley Day Care, while Stephanie Lord supervises. Bottom right: Jillian Chick-Ruth of Associated Grocers of New England gets under the YMCA jungle gym for every last speck of dirt.
