As you saw on the previous two pages, we had a great time hitting the town for a night out last week.
With no wife (Tim), girlfriend (Jon) or young children (both) along for the ride, we could really let our hair down and enjoy all that Concord has to offer.
If you didn’t know, there’s lots of fun things to do “after hours” in the city, from libations and music to pub games and hookah, you can find something to keep you entertained – including a lot more than we were able to get into in a single evening.
But life isn’t always fun and games, even though we think it should be. Sometimes you need diapers at an odd hour of the night or your animal just isn’t seeming like himself. Then what do you do?
Well, luckily we decided to do a little research and see what is at your disposal when the sunlight goes out and the street lights come on. You can thank us later.
Food
There are restaurants and bars all over this city, and many stay open pretty late depending on the day of the week, but what happens when you wake up at 3 a.m. and in need of a little snack to get back to sleep? You can hit up one of the many 24-hour convenience stores, like Cumberland Farms on Main Street (which also has a Red Box if you just need a little movie action) and 7-Eleven on Loudon Road, but don’t forget about the McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts on South Main.
Necessities
What if you forget the vegetables for your crock pot meal that needs to be turned on before heading out the door in the morning? Well, the Hannaford in the Fort Eddy Plaza is open till midnight (and they also sell diapers and wipes if you happened to forget to pick them up earlier in the day). Walmart is also open until midnight and Shaw’s closes down at 11 p.m.
And if you happen to need a photo printed out or some Advil, Walgreens and CVS are open until 10 p.m.
Gym
At this time of year, it can be a little brutal to go for a run during the day and isn’t all that safe at night, but you can still get a little workout in at Planet Fitness – and at any time you want. The chain gym on Fort Eddy Road is open 24 hours a day so you can go in at 2:27 a.m. if you’d like.
Animals
When your veterinarian shuts down for the day, you just hope that Fido doesn’t have any type of issues. But it can happen, and luckily Concord has a pair of emergency spots just in case. CAVES (Intervale Road) and AVC (22 Bridge St.) are open all night if anything pops up with your pet during the wee hours of the morning. And while you hope you never have to go, you’ll be happy they’re there if you do.
