Another week of oppressive, sweltering heat, another trip to a local watering hole to refresh. It’s just part of the life of an Insider.
We had a specific beer in mind for this installment of Tasty Brews: We wanted to try Henniker Brewing Co.’s Miles & Miles Dry-Hopped Pale Ale, the one with astronaut Alan Shepard on the can that we wrote about last week.
It turns out, this beer is hard to find on tap; of all the establishments in Concord serving Henniker Brewing Co. beer, only Applebee’s on Loudon Road had Miles & Miles in stock. So that’s exactly where we went.
You’re given a tall glass by default, which of course is not a problem for us. The first thing we noticed was the very light color – it’s pretty easy to see right through this beer.
The next big thing was, of course, the taste. For an ale billed as dry, this one actually felt pretty wet – but that was a good thing, because if we wanted to drink something dry, we’d order a pint of sand.
The beer is crisp and very, very light – it would have been a breeze to put down a half-dozen of these things, but that wouldn’t have been responsible.
If you like a crisp, easy-to-drink, hoppy beer with minimal bite, this one’s for you.
