It’s been a long summer so far for Derek and Dylan Thomson, with riding their bicycles across the country and all.
But the end is in sight for the Concord brothers, who will be pedaling their way into town on Tuesday (that’s today if you’re reading the Insider hot off the press). When we caught up with Derek last week, the duo was going through New York, on their way to New Hampshire and the ceremonial tire dip in the Atlantic Ocean.
The plan is for them to arrive in Concord, take a ride down Main Street, cruise past Concord High School and retired principal Gene Connolly’s house. It’s only right they swing by Connolly’s house, since this whole trip (Cycling The US for ALS) was done to raise money for the Connolly Tough Fund, which benefits the Connolly family in Gene’s fight against ALS.
Derek said they should be doing all of that around 6 or 7 p.m., just in case you want to cheer them on or anything. And then on Saturday, they will leave from Memorial Field to bike the final 50-plus miles to Seabrook to complete their journey.
As of Friday morning, the Thomsons had raised $14,541.82 of their $20,000 goal. And there’s still plenty of time to donate. You can do so done by visiting cyclingtheusforals.com, which is also where you can live track to see where Derek and Dylan are at this very moment. We’re guessing somewhere in New Hampshire.
