If you just can’t get enough short films, Concord High has something for you: the Concord High School Film Festival.
Guess what it entails? Yup, a whole bunch of films. These aren’t just CHS student-made flicks, though.
“Anyone from anywhere can submit, we encourage anyone and everyone,” said Nick Skafidas, CHS Film Society co-president. This year’s festival will feature submissions from as far away as the U.K. and Ohio.
The films are generally 5 to 15 minutes long, and the subject matter can be anything in the world. There’s usually about a dozen films in all, and this year’s festival will stay true to that number.
The festival, which will take place May 25 (next Wednesday) at 6 p.m. at Concord High, will also be available to live stream at twitch.tv/chs_film_society. This adds a nice convenience factor for those who live too far away to make it – namely the filmmakers from the U.K., among others.
It doesn’t cost anything to get in, but due to limited seating, you’re asked to book a spot ahead of time at chsfilmsociety.weebly.com/reserve-your-seat.html. Once you’re inside, you’ll have the chance to buy some snacks at a bake sale, which Skafidas said always draws in the high school crowd.
The submission deadline has been extended to May 19, so get your film in soon! Go to chsfilmsociety.weebly.com/submit-your-film.html to do it.
