The site is where the Margaret Pillsbury General Hospital complex was located once upon a time. Dig Days II (the first was in 2014) took place right at the beginning of May, which is Preservation Month. April was Archaeology Month, so Dig Days II was planned to fall right as one transitioned to the other. The two-day affair gave people the opportunity to come down and learn all about archaeology, which is the search for evidence of human activity. There was plenty of human activity in the parking lot last week, as avid diggers scooped dirt in the hunt for cool, old artifacts beneath the soil. Bottom right: About a dozen people – some state employees, some curious civilians – showed up to dig their hearts out last Tuesday.
