Hey ladies! Have we got an evening planned for you.

So dust off that evening gown, old bridesmaid dress or that little number that’s just been sitting in your closet waiting for the right time to flaunt it, and get ready for a night out.

The fourth annual Concord Mom Prom is Friday, May 13 at the Grappone Conference Center and the good times will be going all night long – or at least until 11:30 p.m. when the evening comes to an end.

“This should be the biggest and best mom prom ever,” said Michelle Myler, one of the organizers.

And yes, we have to say the rumors are true, this is an event just for women. So guys you’re going to have to find your own fun for this evening, but we’re sure there’s got to be some big game on or cold beer to taste.

So here’s the details. The mom prom goes from 7 to 11:30 p.m. and is going to bring you back to the glory days of high school, when prom was one of the biggest things in your life this time of year. There just won’t be any boys to ask you to dance.

And just to reiterate, it doesn’t matter what you wear. It can be any old dress, the one you wore on your wedding day or a thrift store find.

“People wear all kinds of dresses,” Myler said. “It’s not a gala. Wear anything.”

Who needs the guys there anyway? Just get a big group of your girl friends together for a night of food, dancing and photo booth fun.

That’s right, there will be two photo booths with plenty of props to make this a memorable night that can be documented by photos. And just to be clear, you don’t have to be a mom to go – that’s just the nifty title they came up with for it. You can be a grandma, have no children at all or a college student, as long as you’re over 21 because unlike your high school prom, you can drink at this one – or at least you don’t have to hide in the bathroom to do it.

Tickets are $45 and the price of admission gets you in the building, plenty of appetizers to enjoy, dessert, music entertainment and access to the photo booths. But it’s a cash bar so don’t forget your wallet. There will also be raffles and prizes.

You can purchase tickets at concordmomprom.com until next Thursday or at OutFITters Thrift Store, 20 S. Main St. There’s no guarantee tickets will be available at the door.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Concord School District’s 21st Century Community Learning Center, which is an after school program at four of the district’s schools that provide all kinds of opportunities for students. Last year, the event raised around $8,000 for the Friends Program.

“We pick a different one each year,” Myler said. “We’re trying to spread the donations around.”
