Concord Grange to host awards night
The members of Concord Grange 322 are getting ready to celebrate Grange Month with its 39th annual Grange and Community Awards Night on Monday. This event will be held at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Hall, 48 Airport Road at 7 p.m. This meeting is open to the public. Refreshments will be served prior to the meeting and after the meeting.
The Grange will present the following community awards: Police Officer, Citizen, Firefighter, Educator, Community Spirit, State Police, Media, Agriculture, Young Farmer, Entertainer, Youth and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Get some trout to stock your pond
Want to participate in the biggest catch of a fundraiser? Spring is the time to stock those ponds! Rainbow and brook trout are available in 6 to 8 inch and 10 to 12 inch sizes. Trout, size 6 to 8 inches, can be picked up on May 1, from 1 to 1: 30 p.m., at the Concord Center, 10 Ferry St. Trout, size 10 to 12 inches, will be directly delivered to your pond.

Stamp collectors to meet April 19
The Merrimack County Stamp Collectors will hold its monthly meeting at the Bow Mills United Methodist Church, 505 South St., Bow, on April 19 beginning at 1 p.m.
All who are interested in stamp collecting are welcome to attend. Meet other collectors and learn more about their hobby and varied interests in Philatelic resources and issues.

Craft and bake sale at Penacook church
A spring craft fair and bake sale will be held on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at United Church of Penacook inside Fellowship Hall and, weather permitting, outside in the Canal Street parking lot.
There will be crafters and product vendors and a baked goods table. Coffee, drinks and snacks will be on sale and hot dogs will be available at lunchtime. There will also be several white elephant tables for fundraisers by the Humane Society, Open Door Community Kitchen and the Marine Corps League. Proceeds from this event are used to help support the United Church Food Pantry.

First Church to host jazz sanctuary
“Bring Many Names: Immigration, Faith and Justice,” is the theme of Jazz Sanctuary – First Church/Third Sunday, on Sunday at noon at First Congregational Church, corner of North Main and Washington streets. (Please note time change to an hour earlier this month).
Nancy Pape, advocate from the UCC N.H. Conference Immigration Mission Group, will join vocalist and Pastor Emilia Halstead and WildVine Jazz in a service that seeks to move beyond fear and misinformation to confront the actual life situations of immigrants and refugees in our midst. Hymns from a variety of cultural backgrounds will be presented. Photographs from Becky Field’s award-winning book, Different Roots, Common Dreams: NH’s Cultural Diversity, will be featured as a backdrop for this worship experience.

Little Rattlers to meet April 12, 19
Little Rattlers is the music class for little ones and their grown-ups to shake, rattle and roll. It’s a super fun introduction to music for the whole family, with lots of singing, dancing and playing.
Little Rattlers will have a chance to try out instruments, shake shakers and learn new songs. We do a mix of kids classics, original tunes and pop favorites.

‘Underworld’ to be shown with music
Underworld (1927), a silent drama that spurred a boom in ‘gangster’ movies, will be screened with live music on Friday at 7 p.m. at Red River Theatres, 11 S. Main St.
Underworld will be accompanied by live music by Jeff Rapsis, a New Hampshire-based silent film accompanist who performs at venues across the region and beyond.
Using a digital synthesizer to reproduce the texture of the full orchestra, Rapsis will improvise the score on the spot during the screening.
