Rudy Douville adds some more paint. It takes about 4 gallons to cover the whole surface, he said. (JON BODELL / Insider staff)
Here's one of those occasions where it's totally fine to spill a huge blob of black paint all over the floor. In fact, the whole point of the day was to make the floor as black as possible, so nice work. (JON BODELL / Insider staff)
Twice a year, the Friends of the Audi get together to paint the stage floor at the Concord City Auditorium. Since the stage sees thousands of dancing and tapping feet every year, it takes quite a beating and needs to be repainted every so often. The first paint job comes during the annual Pitch In at the end of August. The other comes during the Dr. Martin Luther King Service Day, held on the holiday named after that civil rights hero. And all the work is done by volunteers, the Friends of the Audi.
