Last week, City Manager Tom Aspell spent much of his time scouring the city looking for holiday decor to put in his own Christmas scavenger hunt for city employees. But instead of writing out clever clues, Aspell instead created his weekly city memo in code. Don’t worry, though, we have translated it for your enjoyment.
That’s heavy
Leaf collection done
Concord General Services has finished its fall leaf collection for the season.
Crews collected 942 loads (1,273 tons) of leaves this year, compared to 1,505 loads (2,529 tons) last year, Aspell writes. Just imagine what it would be like to jump in that leaf pile.
Tonnage is down this year due to the dry weather. Tonnage and loads for 2014 were above normal due to heavy snow and ice, Aspell writes. Well, we certainly don’t have to worry about that just yet.
This year’s numbers are more in line with the usual average number of loads and leaf tonnage.
Job well done
Lots of food for the pantry
The Human Services Department would like to extend a big thank you to their co-workers throughout the city who contributed food, paper and hygiene products for their pantry, Aspell writes. That sure was mighty kind of all those city workers.
The first delivery came from Deb Marcotte and Ernie Petrin of the Fire Department, who arrived with a large SUV filled with supplies.
It was the largest donation ever received from the Fire Department, and that is a high bar to set, as they have always been so generous. This was followed by generous deliveries from City Hall, the library, police, general services and the water and wastewater treatment plants.
