The White Shepherd: An Oxford Dogwalkers’ Mystery
Annie Dalton
2015, 249 pages
Fiction
Anna Hopkins is a loner, and she has a very good reason to be one. Years ago something terrible happened to her family. But recently Anna adopted a beautiful white shepherd, a rescue dog, named Bonnie. When she and Bonnie find the body of a beautiful acquaintance stabbed to death in the park, a series of events is set in motion. Two other women help Anna with this horrible discovery and the three begin to do some investigation on their own. Anna does not have friends, but Isadora and Tansy soon become very important in her life. Plus, Anna suddenly has two men romantically interested in her. And Bonnie, her big beautiful white shepherd, helps keep her sane.
Dog lovers like me are often worried that the dog will be injured or worse in the story. And even though I was very concerned about Bonnie toward the end – without giving too much away – I can say that I was pleased at how the story finished for Bonnie and Anna.
