Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell spends hours upon hours researching old buildings in the city only to realize there’s no end to the information. So he eventually gives up and decides to spell out his weekly city memo with cut up letters from his research notes.

Stuff to make school cool
Concord Human Services would like to thank the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1631, for once again providing backpacks filled with school supplies, Aspell writes. Hopefully it included a couple of My Little Pony notebooks and one of those giant erasers.
This donation helps the families that we serve who are struggling financially to provide their children with these essential school items.
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary has been supporting our families in this way for many years and it is truly appreciated, Aspell writes. Kind of like when someone makes you a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies.
Thanks also to Gary and Dottie Webb for delivering the backpacks to our office.
Road work
Parking might be affected
Liberty Utilities will be working at the following locations this week: Conant Drive, from Winant Street to Norwich Street; Thorndike Street, from Grove Street to South Street; and Perley Street, from South State Street to Pierce Street. Work is scheduled to begin between 203-274 South Street.
There may be delays, one-lane traffic and encumbrances of parking spaces, Aspell writes. So you might just want to avoid that area of the city all together – or take one of your extra strength patience pills for good measure.
Work will generally take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday; and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
