One thousand girls, 240 volunteer coaches and approximately 1,000 other runners will descend upon Concord’s Memorial Field for the Girls on the Run New Hampshire Spring 5K Celebration on Sunday, June 7. Event activities begin at 8 a.m. and the noncompetitive run will start at 9:30 a.m.
More than 2,500 participants are expected to run a 3.1-mile route starting at Memorial Field. Many of the runners are girls in grades 3 through 5 who will be running their first-ever 5K. Our 77 teams from across the state have been preparing for the event over the course of an exciting and challenging 10-week season.
Girls on the Run is a youth development program that combines an interactive curriculum and running to address the physical, emotional, mental and social well-being of pre-teen girls, encouraging them to be “leaders.” Girls on the Run 5K events are open to the public and all men, women, boys and girls are welcome to register at this link: raceplanner.com/register/index/2015GOTRNHSPRING5K.
Volunteers are needed to provide assistance with event-day logistics, registration, water stops, course assistance and more. This event requires more than 100 volunteers, and all ages are welcome.
