City Briefly

Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell folds up a couple of paper footballs for some tabletop action at the office, but during the first game he flicks one right off the fire alarm, setting off screeching sirens and the sprinkler system. Thankfully the water spells out a city memo in the carpet.

Class is in session

It’s the Concord internets

Concord General Services has published a new YouTube video instructing viewers how to navigate the city website, concordnh.gov, Aspell writes. Our advice: with caution. Big Brother is watching, you know.

The video provides a general overview of how to navigate the home page and General Services web pages, including water, trash and recycling, street maintenance, the Everett Arena, wastewater treatment, and more.    The video also includes a brief introduction to online bill pay, Report A Concern, Notify Me, and Concord Maps. Not yet added: the shovel my sidewalk button.

Watch the video to learn where to find important information about city services on the web and be sure to check the website often, as pages are frequently updated.

Donation Nation

Walkers are good peeps

Concord Human Services was the grateful recipient last week of a very large and generous donation of hygiene items, cleaning products and paper goods, Aspell writes. Which is probably good, because if we’re being honest, the department was starting to smell a little rank.

Concord residents Kathy and Roy Walker hosted a holiday party and asked their guests to bring items to donate and then delivered them to the department.  The city is amazed at the quantity and quality of the donations.  The pantry is now, once again, restocked, and will be able to help many people with these most basic needs. The department appreciates the Walkers recognizing this need and choosing the agency as the recipient. And for throwing such a successful rager.

The department also received a donation from co-worker Paul Garland, who provided bags of food and even thought to bring empty bags so staff can distribute the food.  Paul does this fairly often and the city is thankful for his kindness.
