Several residents of Presidential Oaks Retirement Living got into the holiday spirit early this season by helping decorate a tree included in the 14th annual Feztival of Trees, which opened last weekend.
Presidential Oaks’ tree features the theme “Winter in New Hampshire” and is filled with décor representing various items related to things found during the winter months or winter activities here in the Granite State.
Residents decorated the tree – which looks like it is covered in snow – with red ornaments such as ice skates and mittens, as well as painted berries and chestnuts. Residents sprinkled gold glitter on pine cones for an extra sparkle to accompany the white lights. The tree is topped with a pair of white ice skates and red and white patchwork-style ribbon is draped around the tree as a finishing touch.
Linda Bresnahan, Executive Director of Presidential Oaks Retirement, said residents have visited the Feztival of Trees for the last two years, but this is the first year they have decorated a tree for the event.
Among those who regularly worked over the past month to create the tree were residents Francine Pinkos, Beverly Gilman, Deane Mae Rangnow and Leona McAllister.
The Feztival of Trees is taking place at the Bektash Shrine Center, at 189 Pembroke Rd., and is open the following times: Nov. 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; (closed Thursday for Thanksgiving) Nov. 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All trees and wreaths will be raffled off Nov. 30 at 4 p.m. The silent auction closes Nov. 29 at 4 p.m.
