The world famous Harlem Wizards will take on “Team Steph Strong,” a team of local Concord teachers and principals and fire fighters today (Nov. 18) at 7 p.m. at Concord High School . This is a benefit to support The Riley Family, who is dealing with the challenges of cancer. Steph Riley is a 47-year-old nurse, military veteran and mother of two and is currently battling cancer. She was born and raised in Henniker, attended St. Paul’s advanced studies summer program, played sports and graduated as valedictorian from Henniker High School in 1984. She graduated from Boston College and served in the United States Air Force until the end of operation Desert Storm. In 2000, she rejoined the New Hampshire Air National Guard, where she was deployed to South East Asia in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As of October, she has obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and is currently being discharged for medical reasons due to her cancer. In addition to her 18 years of military service to our country, Steph is most proud of her two young children, Shane, 13, and Samantha, 9. Businesses and families from Greater Concord are buying tickets to this game to show their support and help with the financial burden of cancer for Riley and her family.
