Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell drinks a case of Pepto Bismol bottles in hopes of turning his insides as pink as his outsides in support of the annual Making Strides Walk. The results are predictably not pretty, and definitely don’t taste like bubble gum like your mom always said it would. Thankfully he has plenty of time to write a city memo while he’s ill and homebound as a result.

No crossing this bridge
The public is reminded that the Sewalls Falls Bridge will be closed until 5 p.m. on Oct. 17 and again from 7 a.m. on Oct. 20 until 5 p.m. on Oct. 24, Aspell writes. Man, that bridge is no 7-Eleven.
The closures will allow for the drilling of test borings to obtain soil and bedrock information, because you can’t just find that stuff on Wikipedia. The soil and bedrock information will aid in the design of a new bridge, and shed new light on the Flinstones family history.

Eat stuff and help kids
The Concord Fire Unions have teamed up with Cheers Grille & Bar to raise money for Operation Warm to purchase winter coats for needy children. And also to eat french fries. On Oct. 16 from 4 p.m. to close, Cheers will donate 25 percent of all purchases made by patrons for the cause. For more information, contact Mark Hebert at 305-3524.
