The Main Street construction revolution will indeed be televised

You can now watch the Main Street construction project – or pedestrians halting traffic at all of the crosswalks – from the comfort of your living room. Or your hyperbaric chamber, if you happen to have a computer in there.
You can now watch the Main Street construction project – or pedestrians halting traffic at all of the crosswalks – from the comfort of your living room. Or your hyperbaric chamber, if you happen to have a computer in there.

That giant three-dimensional eyeball in Tom Devaney’s art studio is no longer the only thing watching over Main Street. As part of the upcoming downtown construction project, there are now two web cams running day and night.

The cameras were installed to give real-time updates on the construction. There’s the Patriot Cam to offer a look at North Main Street (that’s a screen grab from the Patriot Cam to the left) and the Orr & Reno Cam that provides a view of South Main Street. It’s the perfect way to watch tiny pedestrians walk slowly into the distance!

And since this isn’t a George Orwell novel, the cameras are not recording anything, just giving people a bird’s eye view of our lovely downtown (note: the camera lenses are also not actual bird’s eyes).

To check out the cameras, visit the project’s updated website at concordmainstreetproject.com. You’ll see them on the right side of the home screen. The cameras are being hosted by Patriot Investment Company, Foxfire Property Management and the Orr & Reno Law firm.
