For the eighth consecutive year, NHTI will host a 5K road race to help support the Friendly Kitchen. The race will be run on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 8:30 a.m. on NHTI’s Seekamp Trail. Walkers may elect to participate in the timed 5K race or an untimed 2.5K fitness walk. There will also be a fun run for children 10 and under at 9:30 a.m.
Prizes will be given to the top three men and women overall, and the top three men and women in each of the following categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-plus, NHTI graduates/staff, Clydesdale (male) and Filly (female), wearing a Friendly Kitchen apron, top three teams. All fun run participants will receive a prize.
Registration entry fee is by donation. Give whatever you can to the Friendly Kitchen (tax exempt number 02-0354057). Preregistration is encouraged. Please send large amounts of money (checks payable to Friendly Kitchen) to Perry Seagroves, 13 Godbout Drive, Concord 03301. Day of race registration will be held at the NHTI Student Center from 7 to 8:15 a.m. Registration forms are available online at thefriendlykitchen.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/FK-Race-App-2014.pdf.
There will be a raffle after the awards ceremony. Numbers may be picked up, or you can register in person on Saturday, Sept. 6, from noon to 6 p.m. at The Weekend on the Water at Everett Arena, where you can also buy a Friendly Kitchen Apron to wear in the race.
Eat at Uno’s in Concord on Sept. 4 and if you mention the Friendly Kitchen Race, 20 percent of your bill will be donated to the Friendly Kitchen.
The Friendly Kitchen 5K race is part of The Concord Rotary’s Weekend on the Water.
