On July 22, Concord Grange 322 celebrated their 100th anniversary with a great evening of music by the Nevers’ Band, sponsoring Splash Bash along with Walgreen’s Pharmacy, helping Grange member Arline French celebrate her 100th birthday, and dedicate a new flagpole for Keach Park. There was an excellent attendance of people despite the heat and threat of thunder storms. Dick Patten, Master of the Grange, presented the gift of a flagpole in memory of John Keach to his son, City Councilor at Large Fred Keach, and widow, Suzanne Keach. Also present to accept the gift was Concord Recreation Director David Gill.
Patten recognized and presented commemorative Centennial trophies to descendants of charter members or families who have lived on the Concord Plains-Heights for over 60 years. Each year, the Grange has recognized families on the Heights who have made a difference in this community.
In addition to Councilor At-Large Fred Keach, Ward 4 City Councilor Byron Champlin, Acting Police Chief Brad Osgood and members of the Concord Fire Department Color Guard were present. An anniversary sheet cake was enjoyed by all during the band intermission. The Grange Centennial Cookbook with history is now available for $10 with proceeds to continue the Flagpole Dedication Project. Please contact Rodney Huntoon at 224-4320 or Dick Patten at 228-1803 to purchase a cookbook.
The Grange meets on the fourth Monday of each month unless otherwise notified at 7 p.m. at the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers, 48 Airport Road.
