There will be a pair of free events on July 12 put on by the Penacook Historical Society.
At 10 a.m., there will be a walking tour of the lower Contoocook River.
Carol Foss of the Penacook Historical Society will conduct a tour which will follow the south bank of the lower Contoocook River, from which numerous historic mill sites are visible.
At 1 p.m., there will be a look at the mills of the lower Contoocook. Foss will cover the history of water-powered mills and their successors along the Penacook reach of the Contoocook River.
