Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell shreds all his old city memos into tiny pieces and buries them in hopes of harvesting a garden full of fresh ones. And it works! Here’s one we picked this morning.
Purple Rein
Trash bags everywhere!
Since the initiation of the Pay-As-You-Throw program in 2009, the General Services Department has been working to expand PAYT trash bag vendors in order to provide various locations throughout the city for Concord residents to purchase their bags, Aspell writes. Due to the laws of human physics, the vendors themselves have not expanded, save for the natural expansion that occurs around the holidays, but the number of vendors has.
Rite Aid at 92 South St. became a new PAYT trash bag vendor in April, and, most recently, the Rite Aid at 24 Fort Eddy Road and the Rite Aid at 165 N. State St. have started carrying the purple PAYT bags. The following is a complete list of current PAYT trash bag vendors:
Concord City Clerk’s Office, 41 Green St.; Concord Coop Market, 24 S. Main St.; Hannaford Supermarket, 73 Ft. Eddy Road; Korner Kupboard, 394 N. State St.; Lowe’s, 90 Ft. Eddy Road; Quality Cash Market, 11 Eastman St.; Rite Aid, 92 South St.; Rite Aid, 24 Ft. Eddy Road; Rite Aid, 165 N. State St.; Riverhill Market & Deli, 189 Carter Hill Road; Rocky’s Ace Hardware, 20 Loudon Road; Shaw’s, 20 D’Amante Drive; Shaw’s, 20 Ft. Eddy Road; Shell Gas Station, 242 Sheep Davis Road; Tedeschi Food Shop, 9 Village St. (Penacook); Walgreens, 142 Loudon Road.
The General Services Department will continue to work with retailers to add PAYT trash bags to their shelves. Or even just a basket behind the register, really. Subscribe to the “General Services – Trash & Recycling” news flash through the “Notify Me” module of the city website to be alerted of new vendor locations, trash holidays and more. Subscribers will even get their own football helmet phone! (not really a thing).
