Still Life with Bread Crumbs
Anna Quindlen
2014, 252 pages
Fiction
To cover her expenses, Rebecca Winter, a once-famous photographer, leases her beloved New York City apartment and moves to the country for a year.
The book opens with her waking up at night with a noisy intruder in the attic. Rebecca deals with this crisis and others, and she finds herself changing in this unfamiliar place. She meets a few of the townspeople, begins hiking the hills, and starts to take photos of the mysterious white crosses in the forest.
After reading this book I wanted to meet Rebecca and her friends, and see her photography. I really enjoyed this thoughtful book about second chances.
