Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell emails the reality show, “Naked and Afraid,” pitching a season in which participants traverse the jungle clad only in city memos. While recording his audition video, one city memo falls off, and we’ve got it right here.
All my Audi friends
Like to plant things
The Friends of the Audi are pleased to report that the 14th annual Perennial Exchange, which was held May 10, was a huge success, Aspell writes. The Facebook Friends of the Audi have clicked the “like” button.
Many thanks to retired General Services employee Karon Devoid, who returned from Florida just in time to oversee the 10 volunteer workers and assure the smooth running of the event, and just in time to be sad she was no longer in Florida. Thanks also go out to General Services employees Bruce Drapeau and Scott Benoit, for delivering and setting up tables, and to Cheri Forrest and Hope Hundley for distributing the raffle prizes to the winners.
After the cold rainy start to Saturday morning, participation picked up as the morning brightened and a regular stream of gardeners arrived right up to the noon closing time. For the record, it is not safe to swim in a stream of gardeners.
Volunteers worked throughout the exchange on weeding and cleaning up the garden and parking lot areas outside the theatre. All perennials and gardening supplies remaining at closing were donated to “Adopt a Spot” volunteers. The Perennial Exchange added nearly $400 to the funds to upgrade the Audi.
When in Roma
You’ll actually be in Boston
Concord Parks & Recreation is excited to offer pre-sale tickets to the Liverpool FC vs. AS Roma soccer game at Fenway Park on July 23, Aspell writes. Despite the fact that the Red Sox have done a solid job of kicking things around, this will be the first official soccer game at Fenway this year. Tickets went on sale May 21 and must be purchased in person at the Parks & Recreation Office. Tickets are $55 per person and include bus transportation. And presumably entrance to the game.
