The year 2015 marks Concord, New Hampshire’s 250th anniversary and there is a hardy group of inpiduals getting ready to celebrate. But this is a city-wide celebration and it can’t happen without the support and participation of community members.
On Wednesday, at 6 p.m., Concord 250 – a non-profit organization formed for the purpose of supporting and promoting the 250th anniversary of the City of Concord, NH, for the benefit of all residents, guests and friends of the City – will hold its third public forum, which will take place at City Council Chambers and is open to the public.
The past two public forums have produced many great ideas from community members ranging from illuminating the rich industry of Concord’s history – such as the Concord Coach and granite quarries – to noting the significant role in politics that NH’s capitol has played. Showcasing our many cultural institutions and historic architecture were also a reoccurring theme.
On Wednesday, board members of Concord 250 will be sharing the details of events – including the official kick-off event, set to take place in June 2014 – and other developments that are coming together to celebrate the semiquincentennial of our city, which falls on June 7, 2015.
The Concord Historical Society will also be giving an update on the events surrounding the extraction, opening and reburying of the time capsule which is currently buried beneath City Plaza.
